Private Server Setup
A private BeamMP server doesn’t appear in the public server browser. Only players you share the IP and port with can find it.
Hiding from the Server List
Section titled “Hiding from the Server List”- Log in to your Game Panel.
- Go to the Startup tab.
- Set Private to
true. - Restart your server.
With this setting, your server is invisible on the BeamMP browser. Players connect via direct connect only.
Restricting Who Can Join
Section titled “Restricting Who Can Join”Hiding from the browser stops random players from discovering your server, but anyone with your IP and port can still try to connect. For a strict invite-only setup, pick one of these approaches:
Cobalt Essentials includes a full whitelist feature - only approved BeamMP usernames can connect, and everyone else is automatically kicked.
Nickel provides a simple username-based whitelist with easy add/remove commands.
Install a community whitelist plugin from the Mods tab (set dropdown to Server and search “whitelist”) or write your own with Lua.
Sharing Connection Details
Section titled “Sharing Connection Details”Give your friends:
- Your server IP address and port (shown in the Console tab of your panel)
- A link to the BeamMP launcher: beammp.com
- Instructions: open BeamNG.Drive via BeamMP, then Multiplayer → Direct Connect
Going Public Later
Section titled “Going Public Later”If your group grows and you want to go public, simply set Private to false, add a server key, and restart. Everything else stays the same.
